Jean Marie (Shoemaker) Barnwell, 72, died peacefully with her family by her side Oct. 28, 2010.
She was born Nov. 8, 1937 in Coquille, the only child of Benjamin (Papa) and Mae (Nana) Shoemaker.
She married Gordon Barnwell on Aug. 31, 1962; he died in October 2000.
Mrs. Barnwell lived much of her adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area, as a wife and mom, before retiring to the Redding, Calif. area. She and her husband relocated to Sweet Home in 2003. They enjoyed many years of the RV lifestyle and visited many parts of the United States and Mexico. She enjoyed ceramics, photography, painting and the great outdoors.
Mrs. Barnwell is survived by her son, Ben and his wife Ginger of Vancouver, Wash .; a daughter, Elizabeth (Beeson) and son-in-law Dan of Lynden, Wash; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; and her mother and father.
