Jerldeen May

Jerldeen May, 79, of Sweet Home died May 11, 2008. She was born in Carnigie, Okla. to Elvis L. and Martha May.

Miss May was handicapped from birth. She moved to California with her parents and family in the late 1940s and lived there until the family moved to Culver in 1953. The family moved to Sweet Home in 1960.

She lived with her parents until her father and her mother died in the early 1970s. She then lived with her brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Juanita May, until her passing on May 11.

She attended Sweet Home Assembly of God Church with her parents and family.

Miss May enjoyed making quilt blocks and small quilts. She also enjoyed coloring in her color books. She loved playing and nursing all the babies that came along in the family. She cared for them all as if they were her own.

She is survived by four brothers, Luther May of Culver, Thurmon May of Dekalb, Texas, Johnnie May of Sweet Home and Everett May of Ash Fork, Ariz.; three sisters, Dorotha Kyle of Bethany, Okla., Levena Casey of LaGrande, and Ruby Vanyi of Vader, Wash.

Miss May was preceded in death by her father, Elvis L. May in 1972; mother, Martha May in 1973; two sisters, Harmon May in 1921 and Pauline May in 1928; and two brothers, Arthur May in 1937 and Elvis May Jr. in 1989.

A viewing will be at 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gilliland Cemetery.
