Jerry “Tater” Edwin Tate, 64, of Sweet Home died April 14, 2006. He was born in Battiest, Okla., to parents, Ed & Ollie Bee (McAlister) Tate.
During his youth, his father was in the service, based in Morro Bay, Calif. After his father retired from the service. the family moved to Oregon.
Mr. Tate went to school in Halsey and graduated from Central Linn. Later he attended Linn-Benton Community College for two years. In 1982 he married Mary Lou Seals.
During the last 18 years Mr. Tate worked for Sulzer Pumps in Portland as a supervisor. He and his wife returned to the Linn County area three years ago, but only recently moved back to Sweet Home. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors and wildlife, dirt biking, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Oregon Hunters Association.
Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Mary Tate of Sweet Home; daughter, Sherry Collagan of Sweet Home; three grandchildren; brothers, Fred Tate of Lebanon and Sam Tate of Sheridan; and a sister, Suzanne Warner of Canby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ollie Bee Tate.
Graveside services were April 18 at Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery.
