Jerry Kittson

Jerry Alfred Kittson, 84, of Sweet Home, died March 23, 2022.

He was born April 15, 1937 in Salem to Fred and Edna (Lewis) Kittson.

Mr. Kittson served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

He lived in Sweet Home his entire adult life, raising his family here. He worked as a logger in Sweet Home and surrounding areas. After retirement, he worked as a long-haul truck driver for a couple of years. 

Mr. Kittson enjoyed working in his yard and tending to the various gardens on his property. He also enjoyed scouting and hunting with his “Sweetheart,” Sharon.

He belonged to the Sweet Home Elks Lodge and the VFW. The Kittsons both loved to dance the night away whenever they had the chance.

Mr. Kittson is survived by his children, Rick Kittson and Tonya Kittson, both of Sweet Home, and Tammy Kittson of Lebanon; step-children Tanna Rains of Sweet Home, Pam Sylvester of Bend, Becky Rains of Laurel, Mont., Bobby Rains of Bend, Lonny Rains of Ridgefield, Wash., and Carrie Fineran of Salem; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Sharon Rains in 2014, Phyllis Kittson in 1999, Lori Kittson Volkers in 2001; and siblings Fred, Tom and Steve.

A graveside service with military honors was held April 30 at Gilliland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Kittson’s name can be sent to the Sweet Home Elks Lodge #1972.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
