Jerald D. “Jerry” Underwood, 68, of Sweet Home died Jan. 28, 2013.
He was born May 24, 1944 in Vancouver, Wash. to Jerald and Leona (Gukeisen) Underwood.
He worked for Willamette Industries/Weyerhaeuser for over 40 years. After a seven-year retirement, he returned to work for Hoy’s Hardware, where he served as an assistant manager. He was a member of the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
Mr. Underwood loved being with his grandchildren, long drives in the forest and listening to audio books. He enjoyed gardening, travel and golf.
He is survived by his wife Vicki of Sweet Home; son Ryan and daughter-in-law Paula Underwood of Sweet Home; daughters Shelley and son-in-law Eric Hurbain, and Dana and son-in-law Scott Taylor, all of Reno, Nev.; stepsons Jeff and daughter-in-law Patti Miller of Sweet Home, and Scott and daughter-in-law Carrieann Miller of Washington; brother Leland and sister-in-law Barbara Underwood of Springfield; sister Gloria and brother-in-law Jim “Sonny” Carter of Sweet Home and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Sweet Home Mennonite Church, with final burial at Gilliland Cemetery.
