Jimmie Lee Barton, 66, of Sweet Home died Feb. 26, 2013.
He was born Jan. 13, 1947 in Tacoma, Wash. to Bertie and Maxine (Patterson) Barton.
The next year the family moved to Sweet Home.
Mr. Barton served in the Marine Corps from 1964 to 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was a police officer and sheriff and a bodyguard for the governor of Washington state.
He enjoyed going to garage sales with his grandkids, going to flea markets and hunting for knives. He liked being outdoors, walking the dogs, traveling, going on drives, hunting, fishing, looking for bald eagles and gardening.
Mr. Barton is survived by his daughter Maryanne Persinger and son-in-law of Sweet Home; a son, Jimmie L. Barton Jr. of Sweet Home; six grandchildren, all of Sweet Home; brother Sammie Barton of Sisters; Uncle Eugene Patterson of Sweet Home; niece Carrie Corwin of Redmond; and two great- nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Ann Barton, who died in 1942.
