JoAnn Main

JoAnn Clara (Norquay) Main, 85, of Sweet Home, died April 6, 2022.

She was born at home on Nov. 7, 1936, in Victor, Mont., to Joseph Albert and Clara Willanna (Mongan) Norquay.

She was 2 years old when her dad drowned in West Fork Lake, Mont. There were four children by then. When her brother was 6 years old he put his eye out. She and her brother started school together.

After her mother remarried, to Mike Bader, the family moved to Corvallis, Mont. She attended school there until fifth grade when they moved to Grants Dale, Mont., where she graduated from eighth grade. She attended Hamilton High School from ninth to 11th grade, then moved to Kalispell, Mont., where she finished high school.

Mrs. Main met her husband Earl and they were married on June 5, 1955 at Hamilton, Mont., Christian Church. They lived in Kalispell, where two daughters were born, Cynthia and Sandra.

They eventually moved to Ore-gon, where the Mains adopted a son, John, and had another baby girl, Lezly. They then moved to Coulee Dam, Wash.

After years of moving around with Earl’s work they settled in Missoula, Mont.

After retirement, the Mains traveled for many years and made many good friends. They moved to Oregon in 2002. They had always been Christians, and Mrs. Main knew and loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, mind and soul. God is good all the time. She loved her family and looked forward to seeing them in Heaven.

Mrs. Main is survived by her husband of 67 years, Earl Main; children Cynthia Louise and son-in-law Ron Farrell, John Kenneth Main, and Lezly and son-in-law Paul Clayton; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Jo Main; father and mother Joseph Norquay and Clara W. Norquay-Bader-Palin; sisters Betty Burchell and Shirley Ann Norquay; brothers Mike Bader and Wendell Norquay; and a granddaughter, Amanda Smith.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Holley Church in Sweet Home.

Burial will take place in Fairview, Mont.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
