John McIlmoil

Jan. 4, 1922 – March 25, 2011

John Herbert McIlmoil, 89, of Brownsville died March 25, 2011.

He was born Jan. 4, 1922 in Santa Ana, Calif. to John Noel and Louise (Robertson) McIlmoil.

He was married to Jewell B. Dalton for 68 years. They were longtime residents of Camarillo, Calif. They moved to Brownsville in 2008. They were married in the Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mr. McIlmoil served for over 22 years in the United States Navy as a pilot and became a lieutenant commander. He loved to fly and was qualified to fly everything in the Navy’s inventory from the 1940s until he retired in 1964. He served in both World War II and in the Korean War.

He loved to be with his horse and go hunting.

Mr. McIlmoil is survived by his wife Jewell; son John W. McIlmoil of Albany; daughters Cindy Brough of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Diana Short of Thousand Oaks and Carol Hardy of Brownsville; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned for 3 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the LDS Chapel in Brownsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations, may be sent to the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
