Joseph Edward Schlabach, 90, of Sweet Home died April 28, 2013.
He was born Aug. 13, 1922 in Hubbard to Lee Andrew and Magdalena (Hochstetler) Schlabach.
He served in the United States Army as a corporal during World War II. He had several professions, which included truck driver, heavy equipment operator and gas station owner. He enjoyed rock collecting, polishing, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Schlabach is survived by his son, Donald E. Schlabach of Vancouver, Wash., stepson Gary Margason of Tigard; stepdaughter Diana Olson of Scio; brother: Larry J. Schlabach of Oregon City; and sisters Ada Wrightsman of Roseburg, Mary Jane Holmquist of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Ringer of Sherwood.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Schlabach; brother Gerald L. Schlabach; sisters Velma Cozzutto, Sarah Williams and Alta Brewer; and his wife, Florence Jean Schlabach.
A memorial service was held May 4 at Sweet Home Christian Church, with military honors following at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
