July 2 is deadline for Mid-Valley residents to sign up for Act Alive

Mid-valley residents have until Thursday, July 2 to register online for the sports activities at the fifth annual Act Alive on Saturday, July 4, beginning at 2 p.m.

The Star-Spangled Celebration will run from 2 to 10 p.m. Features will include kids activities with the Boys and Girls Club of Lebanon, food vendors, bungee jumping, miniature golf, a concert by the Albany Swing Band and a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. In addition, the REACH medical rescue helicopter will be on display from 3 to 5 p.m.

Act Alive is an event to raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes, and funds for diabetes services at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. The event will be held this year in partnership with Lebanon’s Star-Spangled Celebration at Cheadle Lake.

The Act Alive events will include a 20-mile cycling event through the east Linn County countryside with the Santiam Spokes bicycle club, a four-mile walk along Cheadle Lake’s trail system with Build Lebanon Trails (BLT), and a twilight 5-kilometer run along Cheadle Lake’s trails with the Lebanon High School cross-country team.

Registration is free for the cycling event and BLT trail walks, aside from the entrance fees to the Star-Spangled Celebration.

There is a $15 fee for the run for anyone registering on-line prior to July 2, or $20 on July 4 at the Celebration.

The fee for the run will include official finish time, a bottle of water and an Act Alive T-shirt.

Participants are also invited to get their friends and family to sponsor them in any of the events. Raise $100 in sponsorships and receive a free parking pass to the Star-Spangled Celebration. Raise $1,000, and you will receive a sports bag in addition to the parking pass.
