June A. Cook, of Sweet Home passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in Corvallis.
She was born Feb. 28, 1931 in Emmett, Idaho to Roy and Ruth Ulve. She was an only child and grew up on their farm. After graduating from Emmett High School, she moved to Boise to attend business college.
She married James E. Cook on June 14, 1953. Jim and June moved their young family to Oregon in the early 1960s.
They lived in McKenzie Bridge, Oakridge and, finally, Sweet Home. June began working at KFIR radio station, and then for the City of Sweet Home in the Public Works Department. She retired from the City of Sweet Home in 1993.
June was an accomplished quilter, talented artist and enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She and her husband spent 19 winters in Arizona, where they enjoyed the sunshine and fellowship of many of their friends. Her children will attest to her patience and love for them and her devotion to her husband.
June is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; her three children and their spouses, James Cook and his wife Jody of Gresham, Mary Sue and her husband Richard Reynolds of Sweet Home, and Col. Mark Cook and wife Timberly of Tega Cay, S.C. She has nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Tracee, and Troy Scott, Grason Reynolds, Hilary Thrall, Emily Stenland, Tyler and Faith Cook, and Mandi Ballinger, and four great-grandchildren with one on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Remembrances can be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 1500 SW 1st Ave., Suite 270, Portland, OR, 9720.
