June Lassley

June Carpenter Lassley, 81, died Oct. 11, 2007 with her husband and daughters at her bedside.

She was born April 11, 1926 to Lloyd and Violet Carpenter in La Grande. She was a fifth-generation Oregonian.

She graduated from La Grande High School and was married March 8, 1947. She and her husband, Jack, moved to Sweet Home in 1950 after living in Portland and Tillamook.

She was baptized in 1953 at the Sweet Home Church of Christ-18th and Long. She served there many years as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher. Her hobbies included reading, sewing and other handiwork, gardening, playing pinochle and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, F. Lynn and Elaine Evans of Albany, and Ledeana Lassley of Gates; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton Carpenter of Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Northwest Christian College or the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association through the Sweet Home Funeral Chapel (541)367-2891. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Church of Christ.
