Seventh-Grade Volleyball

The A team defeated Pioneer of Lebanon 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19 on Sept. 26. The B team won 25-14, 25-14 and 25-19.

Stephani Brock and Chelsea Gregory led the A team, Coach Brian Gold said. Megan Moser and Jessica Mengore led the B team.

“Both the A and B teams played well,” Coach Gold said. “The A team had an outstanding comeback in the second game.”

On Sept. 24, the A team defeated Santiam Christian 25-11, 25-19 and 25-13.

“Brock led the team with 10 unreturned serves and two spectacular saves,” Coach Gold said. “Jamie Burcham continued her dominating serving with 10 unreturnable balls of her own. Alex Thompson had five outstanding sets. Lauren Cota set the perfect balls that were both hit for Sweet Home points.

“Powerful serving and quality bum-set-spike combos earned us the sweep.”

The B team defeated Santiam Christian 25-18, 19-25 and 25-23.

“Jessica Mengore and Larissa Bjornsen led the team in serving,” Coach Gold said. “Ashley O’Donnell showed tremendous hustle while returning serves. Cera Kem delivered two clutch serves as a sub off the bench to break up a 23-23 tie in the third, decisive game.

“The whole B team played with intensity and determination. They never let up and showed outstanding backbone in the face of adversity.”

Eighth-Grade Volleyball

The A and B teams lost to Santiam Christian. The A team defeated Pioneer. The B team lost to Pioneer.


No junior high football games were held last week.
