Kenny Jones led the Husky golfers to what Coach Tom Horn called a disappointing third place finish at Santiam in Stayton.
Sisters took the team title with a 304, Molalla was second at 333, Sweet Home, 336; Stayton, 339; Cascade, 407 and North Marion, 414.
Jones shot an 80 followed by Keith Horn, 84, Ricky Howe, 86, Sam Waller, 86 and Scott Gagner, 88.
“Kenny’s 80 was for an eight place overall,” Coach Tom Horn said. “Sisters had four of the top seven golfers and they had an incredible day.”
Coach Horn said this was the first time this season Molalla has been able to beat the Huskies in four tries.
“Its going to be Molalla, Stayton and Sweet Home battling for second place and at trip to the state golf tournament,” Coach Horn predicted.
He added that Ricky Howe had a good day shooting an 86, his best 18 hole score of the year.
“We’re looking for a little better consistency from our team,” Coach Horn said. “We have the players, we just need to bring it out every match.”
