Sweet Home’s JV football squad came out excited and never let up Thursday, opening their season with a 53-0 win over Toledo on the road.
Coach David Younger’s Huskies executed well across the board, he said.
Seth Graves opened Husky scoring on a 22 yard run and tackled the Toledo safety in the end zone for an 8-0 lead.
Capping the first quarter scoring drive was a 15 yard pass from Donny Cliver to Tim Matuszak for a TD and a 30 yard run by Brandon Miner. Cliver hit both PATs.
In the second quarter, Matuszak scored on a 57 yard pass from Cliver (Cliver PAT), then Miner scored again on a 52 yard run.
Cliver booted a 29 yard field goal to take the Huskies into the halftime break up 38-0.
Sweet Home scored two more times before the final gun. Jared Anable scrambled in for six yards and Jared Tenbusch ran 27 yards. Cliver hit one of the two PATs.
This week’s game: The JV Huskies will host Wilsonville Thursday at 6 p.m. at Husky field.
