Kayla Anne Krebs

May 4, 1987 – December 6, 2023

Kayla Anne Krebs, 36, of Sweet Home passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a long four and a half year fight with breast cancer on December 6, 2023. Kayla was born in LaGrande, daughter of Robin Robertson and Gary Baker Jr.

Kayla moved to Pendleton in 1994 with her mother Robin and dad, Dan Callaham, where she attended school, graduating from Pendleton High School in 2005 and Blue Mountain Community College in 2007. She moved to Monmouth in 2007 to attend Western Oregon University graduating in 2010 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Kayla moved back to Pendleton after graduation where she met her husband Heath. She completed her Masters Degree at the Chicago school of Psychology in June 2011. They had their first daughter in September 2011 and adopted their son in June 2014. Kayla and Heath were married on a beautiful ranch in Pilot Rock on August 31, 2014. They had their second daughter in December 2015.

Their family then moved to Lebanon for work and for her husband to attend Oregon State University. They bought their first house in Sweet Home in March 2019 before Kayla’s first diagnosis with breast cancer. After surgery and months of chemotherapy Kayla found out she was miraculously pregnant with their third daughter and gave birth to her in July 2020.

Kayla worked several different jobs as an adult and child therapist, her last job being for Trillium Family Services working in a few local elementary schools.

She enjoyed spending her time swimming, painting, playing bunco and bingo, attending many concerts, camping, taking trips to the beach, and traveling with her family and best friend. She was very charismatic and could gain the attention of an entire room. She had a contagious laugh and infectious smile.

She is survived by her husband Heath Krebs and children: Harley, Colton, Zoe, and Asa of Sweet Home, mother Robin Callaham of Sweet Home, dad Dan Callaham of Pendleton, father Gary Baker of Baker City, siblings: Opal Eckstein and Chris Callaham of Elgin, Tanner Callaham of Pendleton, Gracelyn Callaham of Sweet Home, Zavie Baker of Fruitland, and Sage Baker of Baker City, many nieces and nephews, and lots of family and friends who loved her dearly.
