Kenneth Elavsky

Kenneth Carl Elavsky, 82, died Dec. 24, 2006.

He was born July 9, 1924 in Minnesota, the son of Mike and Mary (Profant) Elavsky.

Mr. Elavasky entered the U.S. Navy as a young man, during World War II, serving in the South Pacific aboard the USS Smalley. He moved west after the war, married and had a family.

He worked on railcars in Portland, then eventually became an independent scrap metal worker.

Mr. Elavsky came to Sweet Home about two years ago to be closer to family.

He enjoyed Portland Wrestling, nature and the outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Linda Mulvanny of Sweet Home and Karen Grosnicoles of Gresham; brothers, Mike Elavsky and Ray Elavsky; sister, Mary Oloson; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a soon-to-be great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Elavsky; one sister and one brother.

A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Skyline Inn in Sweet Home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
