Kenneth Maxwell Graves, 93, of Sweet Home and Florence, died in Corvallis on Jan. 4, 2006.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1912 near Clarks, Neb.
He married Anna Valeta McLean on Sept. 26, 1931. They had been married more than 71 years when she died on 2003.
They lived in Independence in 1935 and also lived in Corvallis, Toledo, Portland, Newport, Holley and Sweet Home before moving to Florence in 1976.
Graves did farm work, lumber-related jobs, owned a service station and worked as a welder at Kaiser’s Oregon shipyard in Portland. Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was a press operator in Willamette Plywood in Foster.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed reading westerns. He was a member of the Florence Christian Church and formerly Sweet Home Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his brother, Russell of Keizer; son, Larry and wife, Ada, of Lebanon; daughter, Donna and husband, Elwin, of Florence; three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
