Sweet Home Swim Club sent four competitors to the 2022 OSI Arena Long Course State Championships at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham July 21-24.
Khloe Sautel was Sweet Home’s top place-winner, taking first place in the 12-year-old 200 Freestyle, second in the 100 Freestyle and third in the 400 Freestyle.
She was also third in the 200 Individual Medley and fifth in the 50 Freestyle.
In the 13-year-old age group, Breeza Rodriquez placed fifth in the 50 Freestyle, sixth in the 200 Backstroke, seventh in the 100 Freestyle, and seventh in the 100 Backstroke.
In the 15-and-over age group for girls, Kirsten Sautel placed 48th in the 50 Freestyle, 49th in the 100 Freestyle, 25th in the 100 Breaststroke, and 30th in the 200 Freestyle.
Competing in the 15-and-over boys 100 Breaststroke, RJ (Ronald) Abbott Jr. placed 48th and dropped 2 seconds off his 100 personal best in the event, swimming 1:18.19.
He also time-trialed the 100 Freestyle, clocking a lifetime best 59.76 to break the minute
Overall, with only four athletes, Sweet Home ranked 21st out of the 34 club teams competing in Oregon.
