Kids go shopping with local cops

The program pairs disadvantaged children with police officers to shop for $50 worth of items that many of the children use to purchase Christmas gifts for their families. The Sweet Home Kiwanis donated money members raised at their summer car show and the Sweet Home Community Foundation provided funding to increase the amount from the usual $25 to $50. Nine Sweet Home officers joined Linn County deputies and Lebanon officers for the event, which served 35 children below the age of 12 and 15 ages 13 to 17.
