Kimberly Beth Palmer, 62, of Sweet Home, passed away peacefully Dec. 31, 2021, at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1959, in Charleston, W.V., to Eugene and Patricia (Strobel) Woods.
Kim was a “Navy brat” and lived in many different locations growing up including Texas, the Philippines, Washington state, Maryland and Florida.
She graduated from high school in 1977 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. She came to Sweet Home in 1982 to care for her Uncle Vern, making a life for herself in Sweet Home. She later cared for both her parents.
Kim worked as a certified medical assistant at Dr. Ronald Hartmann’s office in Sweet Home until he retired in 1997. She then went to work at Heresco Chiropractic in Corvallis, eventually becoming the Insurance Department manager.
Kim was a member, council member, and past president at Fir Lawn Lutheran Church. She also was a previous board member and volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce, past state president of Oregon Business and Professional Women association, and was the 2009 recipient of the BPW Woman of the Year award.
She enjoyed traveling (especially to Hawaii and Florida), spending time with friends and family, church functions, crafting and anything she could do to help her community or anyone in need.
Kim is survived by her son, Chas Palmer of Sweet Home; sister Kathleen Crain and brother-in-law Robert of Royal Oaks, Calif.; niece Dr. Megan Davis of Santa Rosa, Calif.; many cousins; and loving friends that she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia “Patti” Woods in 2010; and Eugene “Woody” Woods in 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, Jan. 15, at Fir Lawn Lutheran Church in Sweet Home.
