Kirk Gordon Smith, 57, of Sweet Home died March 22, 2011.
He was born May 20, 1953 in Lebanon to Kirkley Blair and Beulah Colleen (Comer) Smith.
Mr. Smith lived in Sweet Home most of his life. He attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, studying journalism and communications. While there he wrestled on the school team.
He was manager of B.P.O.E. in Sweet Home in the late 1980s to early 1990s. He enjoyed worshipping at the Riverside Christian Church.
Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and loved cooking. He loved his six-time World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Yankees and Oregon athletics. He had a great sense of humor and was thrilled and proud of his new baby granddaughter.
He is survived by his son, James William Smith, of Sweet Home; daughters Nyree and son-in-law Chris Kowalski of Mary Esther, Fla., and Christine Marie Tiffany Smith of Emmett, Idaho; four grandchildren; father Kirkley Blair and stepmother Donna Smith of Sweet Home; brothers Dennis Smith of Carson City, Nev., Harland and sister-in-law Shirley Smith of Sweet Home, Tom Smith of Seattle, Wash., and Kelly Smith of Sweet Home; sisters Dixie and brother-in-law Charlie Clark of Sweet Home, and Patti and husband Ray Eder of Mt. Angel; and 19 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah “Ditti” Colleen Smith in 2001.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 28, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
