May 2, 1946 – Dec. 11, 2019
Konnie Ann Ochoa, 73, of Sweet Home died Dec. 11, 2019.
She was born May 2, 1946 in Redlands, Calif. to Richard and Virginia Ada (Peeden) Fitzgerald.
She was born and raised in the Imperial Valley area of California. After a period of traveling due to her father’s work, the family settled in the San Bernardino area of California. She later married and moved to Sylmar, Calif.
After spending many years visiting her aunt, Debora Karr, in Sweet Home, Mrs. Ochoa and her family moved to Sweet Home in 1979.
As a young woman, she worked as a non-foods clerk at a grocery store, where she met her husband. After marrying, she was a stay-at–home mother until her youngest was 3 years old and then found a position as a pharmacy clerk-technician until the family moved to Oregon.
Mrs. Ochoa had a few miscellaneous jobs when first in Oregon, but finally found the one she loved: she was a preschool teacher at Little Promises in Sweet Home for many, many years and was known by many as “Miss Konnie.”
Mrs. Ochoa loved camping and was an avid and successful fisherwoman. She spent many summers boating, fishing and camping with her family throughout California and Oregon.
She also enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Ochoa of Sweet Home; daughters Kelli Dunleavy and Trista Ochoa, also of Sweet Home; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and brother, Rocky Cagle.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
