Sweet Home’s Maria Kropf has qualified in the 100 meters for the Hershey’s Track & Field Games national meet Aug. 2-5 in Hershey, Pa.
Kropf, 13, competed in the national meet last year in the 100, placing fifth with an injured hamstring.
At Sweet Home Junior High last spring, Kropf set three individual school records, in the 100 (12.84), 200 (27.77) and the 100 hurdles (17.47) at the district meet.
She qualified for the Hershey nationals at the Oregon state meet in Eugene on June 17, running 12.59 in the 100.
Kropf said she’s been stretching and working out nearly every day to prepare this year with coaching assistance from Lela Tami Danforth.
