Laura Eileen Koechig, 59, of Sweet Home died Aug. 4, 2017.
She was born Sept. 18, 1957 in Eugene to Earl and Marion Clark (Given) Seward.
She lived in Salem, Eugene and San Francisco as an adolescent before settling in Sweet Home in December of 1995.
Mrs. Koechig was a stay-at-home mom to three children. She worked to improve peace/anti-war efforts and establish events such as the hemp festival and country fair.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, her cats and dogs. She rescued strays when needed. She loved being involved in her children’s activities.
Mrs. Koechig is survived by her husband, Steven Koechig of Sweet Home; three children, Jeb Willsey, Shawnee Koechig and Elijah Koechig; daughter-in-law Katherine Willsey; son-in-law Austin Strom; brothers Ernie Ross of Eugene, and Wayne Ross and Jeff Ross, both of Salem; sister Charlotte Maya of Salem; step-children Steven Koechig Jr. and Heather Goodrich, both of California, and Skyla Magee of Colorado Springs; and all the kids who ever called her mom; along with six cats and three dogs.
