Laverne T. Long, 92, of Sweet Home died Jan. 20, 2009.
He was born Nov. 15, 1916 in Haldane, Ill. to Howard and Bessie (Conrad) Long.
Mr. Long moved with his family to the McMinnville area when he was a child. He married Clara Apple in 1938, later divorcing after their children were grown. He had lived in Sweet Home since 1954. He owned his own logging truck and worked in the logging industry for most of his adult life. He later married Millie Royster and during their retirement they enjoyed traveling in their RV.
Mr. Long is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ainsworth of Albany; son Gary Long of Puyallup, Wash.; sister Carol Cooper of Longview, Wash.; ex-wife Clara Zemlicka of Albany; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; and sister LaVonne Eric Halverson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a future date.
