Lawanna Ellen Swan died peacefully in Sweet Home on April 16, 2014 after a three-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born July 14, 1924 in Childress, Texas to Tilman and Lula Davis.
She married the love of her life, Bob Swan, on Dec. 20, 1941. They were happily married for 54 years until Bob’s death in 1995.
Soon after they were married, Bob was drafted into the Navy to serve in World War II. Lawan-na then joined the Navy and served as a member of the WAVES, stationed in Seattle, Wash.
Bob and Lawanna had two children, Tony Lee born Aug. 20, 1945, and Nancy Louise, born Dec. 5, 1946.
Lawanna enjoyed camping, traveling, homemaking, gardening, crocheting, reading the Bible and laughter. She loved to give crocheted gifts that she made to family and friends. Some of her fondest memories included taking her entire family – kids and all the grandchildren – to Maui on two separate trips.
She leaves behind a large, loving family, including daughter Nancy and son-in-law RC Smith, and daughter-in-law Barb Swan; grandchildren John Swan and wife Jennifer and their children Tyler, Nicole, Deven and Dylen; Tami (Smith) Moore and husband Todd, their children Alexandria and Dalton Moore; Ed Swan and wife Deanna and their children Calvin and Gannon; Chad Smith and wife Kacie; and Toby Smith and wife Dawna and their son Tucker; two brothers; a sister; and the staff and residents at Wiley Creek Assisted Living, who became her extended family.
Lawanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, and son Tony Swan, one week prior to her death on April 9, 2014.
Services will be held at Wiley Creek Assisted Living Home in Sweet Home at 3 p.m. On Sunday April 27, 2014. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Lawanna Swan’s name to Evergreen Hospice, 1046 6th Ave SW, Albany, OR, 97321.
