A wide variety of fitness, art, computer and teen community education classes are being offered this summer by Linn-Benton Community College at the Sweet Home Center, 1661 Long St., and the Lebanon Center, 44 Industrial Way.
This year LBCC is also launching a first-time series of short classes that enable kids and teens ages 11 to 16 to test and apply their technical creativity.
The college is partnering with Black Rocket, Inc. to bring interactive, computer game development classes that teach creating apps, video games, playing Minecraft and designing 3D video games.
Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon, and are held in Corvallis, Albany and Lebanon.
Adult and teen classes this summer include:
Easy Cardio Fitness: This beginning level exercise program for general fitness and body trimming is designed for older adults, those with health limitations or those who want a gentle workout of stretching, range of motion exercises and modified cardio movements.
Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 9:50 a.m., starting June 27, in Lebanon. Cost is $69.
Better Bones and Balance: Reap the benefits OSU Bone Research Lab studies have shown. This exercise program will significantly slow the rate of bone loss in adults of all ages.
Improve your balance, flexibility and coordination, and see an increase in muscle tone and overall body fitness.
Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-8:50 a.m. starting June 27. Cost is $69. Also meets Fridays from 8-8:50 a.m., starting July 1, in Lebanon. Cost is $39.
POUND: POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming.
The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, and isometric movements to strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique all while rocking out to your favorite music!
Meets Tuesdays from 5:30-6:20 p.m., starting June 28, in Lebanon. Cost is $39.
Aquatic Fitness: Water exercises and movements to stretch and strengthen the body, tone muscles, and increase flexibility. Develop ability to move freely and expressively in the water.
Meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30-8:20 p.m., starting June 27, in Sweet Home. Cost is $75.
Mosaic Mashup For Teens: Create a mosaic masterpiece from recycled materials that grab your heart. Incorporating paper, glass tiles, ceramic tiles, and a wide selection of other materials, you will leave with your own unique piece of artwork. Ages 11 and up.
One-day class meets Tuesday, June 28, from 9 to 11:50 a.m. Cost is $39.
Under the Hood: Learn how to change oil and filter, what to do when you have a flat tire, jump start a dead battery and install tire chains as time allows.
Designed for teens, but could be appropriate for anyone. Class meets Saturday, June 25, from 9 to 11:50 a.m. in Lebanon. Cost is $49.
Minecraft Designers: If you love the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games, this class is for you!
Learn the basics of creating 3D models using new software to design your very own objects. Ages 11-15.
One-week class meets Monday through Thursday from 9 to 11:50 a.m. starting July 18 in Lebanon. Cost is $169.
Video Game Odyssey: Unlock the keys to game design by choosing your own adventure. Unlike any other Black Rocket game design course, students in this program will make special top-down adventure games like Pokeman or Zelda to compete with their friends.
Design unlimited room and levels as you continue your quest in becoming a game design master. Ages 11-15.
One-week class meets Monday through Thursday from 9 to 11:50 a.m., starting Aug. 15, in Lebanon. Cost is $169.
App Attack: Dive into making your own apps, just like the ones you’d see on the App Store. Using a specialized app and game development tool, students will dive into the world of web-based (HTML5) mobile apps.
No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to take the class. Ages 11-15.
One-week class meets Monday through Thursday from 9 to 11:50 a.m., starting June 27, in Sweet Home. Cost is $169.
Corks and Canvas: Find your inner Picasso. This is by far the most enjoyable way to explore your artistic talent while enjoying the atmosphere at Marks Ridge Winery. No experience necessary.
In this acrylic class, you will receive step-by-step instruction, supplies, and your first glass of “inspiration”. At the end of the event, you will walk away with your own masterpiece.
Meets Thursday, July 14, from 6 to 8:20 p.m. at the winery. Cost is $39.
Dog Training 1: Learn how to positively motivate your dog to respond quickly despite distractions and to reliably come when called.

Five-week class meets Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m., starting June 30, at the Lebanon Senior Center. Cost is $49.
Classes in Albany include Make Your First 3D Video Game and Lego Films.
Classes for youths in at the LBCC Benton Center include Code Breakers – learn basic coding languages, Make Your First 3D Video Game, Minecraft Animators and Digital Storytelling.
