LBCC plans scholarship concert

The annual Scholarship Concert will be presented by the Linn-Benton Community College performing arts department on Thursday, June 6 at 8 p.m. in Takena Theater.

The concert will feature the LBCC Chamber and Concert Choirs and the proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund for the choir students next year. The Concert choir will perform the complete work, “Mass in G,” by Franz Schubert. Soloist include Sopranos Anna Phillips and Elizabeth O’Bannan, Tenor Adam Grieve, and Bass Scott Ingham.

The program will also feature the spirituals “All My Trials,” guest conducted by student Tom Troyer and “Take My Mother Home,” with a Baritone solo from Tom Troyer. The Concert Choir will conclude with “The Traveling Song” by Mikhail Glinka. The award winning Chamber Choir will perform “Laudate, a Litany of Praise” by Noel Goemanne, “Australian Bush Songs” by Iain Grandage, “Do Not Stand by My Grave and Weep” by Ron Harris, “Mangwani M’pulele,” a Sotho children’s song arranged by Mike Brewer, “Oro My Currach,” an Irish folk song arranged by Neil Ginsberg, “Eu e Voce,” a Brazilian folk song arranged by J. Edmund Hughes, and “Let Me Fly” arranged by Robert De Cormier.

Tickets are $4 and are available at the Takena Theater Box Office, open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-noon and 2-3 p.m. and one hour before the performance. The 24-hour reservation line is 917-4531.
