Kody Nunn took second place in general welding and metal working at the annual Linn-Benton Community College Skills Contest held March 6 at LBCC. Fifteen high schools participated.
Three Sweet Home students took first place in individual events: Bryan Warth in gas welding, Shawn Richardson in arc welding and Casey Johnson in TIG welding. First-place winners received $250 scholarships to LBCC and all winners were eligible for prizes that included a welder and lots of gear.
Other winners were Vance Wolfe (seconds, milling machine and arc welding), Matt Grove (third, Autocad 2D), Mike Nelson (third, gas welding), Caleb Keeney (third, arc welding), Tyler Horner (third, TIG welding), Garrett Pederson (fourth, gas welding), Jared Olsen (fourth, arc welding) and Marcus Thedford, fourth, TIG welding).
