The annual High School Industrial Skills Contest was held March 6 at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany. Students from 18 Oregon high schools competed in the event, which included contests for machine tool milling and turning and several types of welding. Sweet Home winners were: Konrad Tackett, first in Welding Technology-Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Justin Wolfe, runner-up in that category; Jaegar Howatt, first in Welding Technology-Oxy-Acetylene Welding, and Anthony Hardee, who placed second in that category; and Jacob Shook, third in Welding Technology-Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
