LCSO arrests man for online sex crime

Linn County sheriff’s detectives arrested 27-year-old Spencer Dee Anton Chisum of Sweet Home Saturday on charges of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor.

He was lodged at Linn County Jail.

The arrest followed an investigation into allegations that Chisum was repeatedly attempting to solicit sex from a person, who was represented as a 14 year old girl, that he met via text message, said Sheriff Bruce Riley in a press release.

Deputies learned of Chisum’s conduct when a concerned citizen contacted the Linn County Sheriff’s Office after Chisum initially sent the citizen a text at random and then began making repeated sexual solicitations after being told the person he was texting was a 14-year-old girl, Riley said.

Deputies reviewed the text message exchange and identified numerous sexually explicit text messages allegedly sent by Chisum that were comingled with numerous text messages allegedly attempting to arrange a meeting with the person he believed was a child, Riley said.

At approximately 7 p.m. Saturday, Chisum drove from Sweet Home to Lebanon to meet who he believed was a going to be a 14-year old-girl, Riley said. However, when he arrived, he was met by Linn County Deputies instead.

Chisum was in possession of a small amount of marijuana which he admitted to bringing to give to the girl, according to Riley.

Despite numerous text messages allegedly indicating his motivations were sexual, Chisum denied he drove to Lebanon to meet the girl with the intention of engaging in sexual conduct, Riley said. Chisum told police he drove to Lebanon to meet with the girl so he could “scold” the child for agreeing to meet a 27-year-old man she did not know.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Det. John Trenary at (541) 917-6665.
