Lebanon Basic Services Center holding supply drive

Lebanon Basic Services Center and the Homeless Assistance Program are doing a school supply drive for children in the Lebanon and Sweet Home school districts.

The program assisted almost 500 children last year. The program seeks help in meeting the needs of low-income and homeless children with school supplies and backpacks.

Donation boxes are located at Lebanon Basic Services Center, Washington Mutual, Key Bank and Community Human Services from Aug. 1 to Sept. 5.

Items needed include paper, binders, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, markers, rulers, Crayons, compasses, dividers, calculators, folders, note cards, pens, highlighters, erasers, water colors, paint shirts, backpacks and more.

Persons who would like to make a cash donation can mail checks to Lebanon Basic Services Center, P.O. Box 2225, Lebanon, OR 97355. All donations are tax deductible.

Lebanon Basic Services Center provides information, referral and emergency services to families in need. It is in its 13th year of providing assistance. Last year, it had nearly 6,000 contacts for information and assistance for emergencies.

Seventy-four homeless families with 112 children from the Lebanon School District received help.

Basic services ere provided through rent assistance, utility bills, personal care items, clothing, shoes, school supplies, backpacks and assistance returning to work.
