Lee Edward Cook, 99, of Sweet Home, died March 10, 2013.

He was born April 15, 1913 in Choteau, Mont. to Thomas B. and Jessie Myrtle (Giles) Cook.

Mr. Cook was not eligible for military service, but worked for Lockheed Aircraft Company throughout World War II as a P-38 “Lightning” assembly mechanic.

After the war he moved with his father to Seattle, Wash., where he worked for the Boeing Airplane Company from 1947 until he retired in 1977. He moved to Sweet Home with his wife, Ruth, in the early 1980s.

Mr. Cook enjoyed cabinetry and woodworking, rockhounding and gardening (always a high priority). Since his baptism in 1957, he was always involved with his church and looked out for the needy of the church.

He is survived by his nephew, Leland Reese of Stanwood, Wash.; step-daughter Joan M. Fix of Angels Camp, Calif.; step-son Raymond D. Anderson of Lubbock, Texas; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Case Cook, in 1996; and a sister, Lela Reese, in 2002.

No formal services are planned at this time. Contributions may be made in his name to the Community Services of the Sweet Home Seventh-day Adventist Church, or a charity of your choice.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
