Leonard Watson

Leonard George Watson, 71, of Sweet Home died Jan. 29, 2015.

He was born Jan. 2, 1944 in San Diego, Calif. to Leonard Eugene and Beatrice Jewell (Newman) Watson.

Mr. Watson served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from Jan. 26, 1967 to Oct. 18, 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the AFM 900-3.

He lived in St. Helens from 1983 until he moved to Sweet Home in 2005.

He was an electrician for Boise Cascade from 1977 until retirement.

Mr. Watson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an executive secretary, ward clerk, in Scouting, stake missionary, Seventy, and as a temple worker in Portland. He served in the Rarotongan mission for 2½ years.

He enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, basketball, football and camping. His proudest achievement was his family.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Connie Watson of Sweet Home; children Leigh A. and son-in-law Nathan Robbins of Seattle, Wash., David D. Watson of Rainier, Andrea G. Watson Burnham of Clackamas, Amanda J. and son-in-law Patrick Regan of Boise, Idaho, Kelly A. and son-in-law Nathan Dorathy of Nyssa, Randy Couch of Sweet Home, Cheri` Morck of Murray, Utah, Sandi and son-in-law Phillip Edwards of St. Helens, and Garren Friedman of Cascadia; siblings Jeanne Bleeker, Dorothy Motley, Donnie Holton, Larry Watson and Curtis Watson; 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home. Interment is planned for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
