Editor:
The Cascade Laundromat building has been sold and will be closing sometime in the next one to three weeks.
This has been an extremely difficult decision, and we have earnestly tried to make the venture profitable and also find another location.
I want to thank Wendi Melcher, who has tried diligently to help us find another location. Several offers have been made without success (perhaps I did not offer enough, or the owners preferred not to sell).
With advancing age and accompanying health challenges for Mollie and me, it now seems best to put the building to another use, and we are pleased to announce that it will be a meat market with unique offerings.
There will be forthcoming announcements and advertisements, and the new owners will plan to continue the fun and excitement of the Firehaus Ice Cream, after a brief closure for remodeling.
The Laundromat machines are being purchased by Hilltop Laundromat in Foster, as part of their planned expansion, and they will be providing services for our customers. Let’s welcome and support the new management at Hilltop.
Fair Share Gleaners will continue at the same location for the foreseeable future. They are wonderful people and serve the needy in our community. We have enjoyed their friendship for the past four years.
We realize that this will be an inconvenience for some of our faithful patrons, to whom we sincerely apologize. Your friendship and association have been very meaningful to us. Thank you very much.
Henry and Mollie Wothuis
