Editor:
I am not alone in refusing to be identified as either a Republican or Democrat.
Right now I don’t like either party, so I am registered as nothing … independent.
Therefore, my ballot lists only a few judges and Labor Commission candidates, which on my ballot are all incumbents and have no challengers. How unexciting.
I feel disenfranchised because I can’t vote for candidates for either the Senate or the House of Representatives. Who, then, can represent me?
We need open ranked elections, in which all the candidates are listed on all the ballots so all voters can participate by ranking their choices.
I believe in voting for the best person for the job, not the strongest party hack. Why can’t I stand in the middle, avoid the polar extremes, and make my choices?
