Letter: Thanks, volunteers who make festival (July 13, 2022)

Editor:

What an amazing Sportsman’s Holiday weekend!

Thank you to all the hardworking, dedicated volunteers who continually give to the community of Sweet Home and make it a great place to call home. The Sportsman’s Holiday Coronation was a real treat.

I was disappointed to see such a small crowd for such an entertaining and professionally run event. Thank you to Michelle Knight, Courtney Paul, Ali Gardner and Shelly Larson for investing your many hours working with the four outstanding Sportsman’s Holiday Princesses this year. Oh, did I mention, they volunteered all those hours?

Special thanks also to volunteer Karla Hogan who organized Cut the Gut and the Saturday Enchanted Forest Parade. Karla, you have given thousands of volunteer hours to the city of Sweet Home. We should have a statue made to honor you and all your hard work! Both events get better each year with your guidance. You are truly my hero!

I didn’t make it to the Working Logger’s Olympics this year, but I also want to thank Milt Moran for his hours of volunteer work organizing this entertaining event year after year.

Have you noticed a theme with these amazing heroes? They are volunteers! And I only mentioned a few. There are hundreds of volunteers who invested their time just for Sportsman’s Holiday.

If you are interested in joining them and help make Sweet Home a better place to live, go to sweethomechamber.com, the “About Us” tab and click on “Volunteer.” We look forward to meeting you and working together to make awesome Sweet Home memories together!
