Lewis Creek Park closes for winter; others to follow

Linn County Parks and Recreation closed Lewis Creek County Park on Tuesday, Sept. 2, for the season. It will reopen in late May.

Whitcomb Creek County Park, on Green Peter Reservoir, and John Neal Memorial County Park, on the North Santiam River, will close on Sept. 29 and reopen in April.

Sunnyside County Park, on Foster Reservoir, will close on Nov. 3 and reopen in late March, just before Spring Break. Sunnyside’s day use and boating facilities will remain open all year.

River Bend County Park, on the South Santiam River east of Sweet Home, and Waterloo County Park, on the South Santiam at Waterloo, are open all year.

Many of the campsites at both of those parks are available throughout the winter. Also, this year, Linn County Parks will attempt to keep the Clear Lake Resort cabins available for use throughout the winter.

Cabin and camping reservations at any Linn County park for this winter or the 2009 summer season may be made at the parks website, http://www.co.linn.or.us/parks, or by calling (541)967-3917. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance.
