Editor:
Maybe it would do for the Leinbachs (Nov. 19) to reread my letter to the New Era of Nov. 12. Please don’t read into it what was not there. Nowhere did I say that the liberals were horrible.
If their definition of a liberal is correct then when I refer to someone as being liberal they should not be offended.
I find it quite amusing that they would be so offended by my respecting and honoring President elect Obama that they had to publicly chastise me, yet never once have I ever seen a letter with their name on it chastising her liberal buddies for all the nasty, mean and disrespectful letters to the editor written about President Bush over the last eight years.
They also never complained about the cartoons that were printed making fun of President Bush and, believe me, there have been plenty of those.
I don’t hate liberals. In fact, I have some very good friends that are liberal; and believe it or not, I do now and will continue to pray for President-elect Obama and all of the other liberal Democrats who will be running our country for the next few years. I’ll even be praying for the Leinbachs and all the other liberals in our community.
The good Lord knows that they and our nation need our prayers now more than ever.

My congratulations go out to the newly elected City Council members. Although I don’t question the qualities that got each of them elected I am sorry that Rich Rowley was not re-elected.
I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Rowley and I’ve no doubt that he will be missed on the council. He is a very dedicated individual, and I want to thank him for all the years that he has served our little town.
I am glad that he is willing to continue to offer his services. I hope the city takes him up on his offer to serve on the budget committee. We are a much better community when we have people like him working on our behalf.
