The results are in on our 2014 Christmas Lights Contest.
Judged by 19 senior citizens who toured the town on Dec. 11, the winner of this year’s event is 994 29th Avenue, the home of Paul and Joyce Rowton.
The Rowtons will receive a prize basket that includes a year’s subscription to The New Era, a 16-ounce Sweet Home coffee mug designed by The New Era staff, and other goodies.
Also receiving the same prize basket is Sandy Van Cleave, whose name was drawn from a hat filled with the names of people who tipped us off about hot locations for Christmas lights this year.
For the curious, the second-place finisher was last year’s winner, 4410 Airport Road, followed by a dead tie between 28044 and 28050 Meridian Heights Loop (which were very, very similar), followed by 1000 Northside Road, on the corner of Pleasant Valley and Northside, in fifth.
Crawfordsville is lit up in notable fashion this year, with several displays that are worth the drive. Also, 40001 Highway 228 (near Crescent Hill Road) is worth slowing down for.
