Lions Clubs International is proposing that a charter Lions Club be formed in Sweet Home.
Lions Larry King, Jeri Dalsogilio and Don Bowers are coordinating this endeavor and are seeking community members interested in joining the service organization.
Most important is that the Lions serve the needs of the people in their own community. Service to the blind and visually impaired has become one of the association’s more significant activities. That crusade resulted in the establishment of Sightfirst, an international sight preservation and restoration program.
Most Lions Clubs furnish eye exams and glasses and hearing aids for the needy. They also can provide free sight and hearing screening for schools and other groups and sponsor Scouting and youth groups, foreign youth exchanges and patriotism.
Lions also serve in activities for diabetes awareness, education and research, environmental issues, community welfare, international understanding and youth.
Those interested in learning more should contact Larry King at (541) 747-6828, Jeri Dalsogilio at (541) 726-0702 or Don Bowers at (541) 343-1356.
Lions are individuals who enjoy working with others to volunteer for the betterment of their community, their state, country and world.
