Little appreciation can go a long way

Editor:

I attended the Logger’s Olympics for the first time in many years and was impressed with the amount of competitors, volunteers and people in attendance.

Many calories were burned that day in the hot sun providing free entertainment to the community. The competitors were compensated by rounds of applause and maybe a little money. But the volunteers are only compensated if people take the time to thank them for donating their time.

As both a long time competitor and event organizer, I know a pat on the back goes a long way. I hope this event continues for another 40 years; it only makes Sweet Home a better place to live.
