Live tree auction, which helps fund scholarships for local students, Dec. 2

The Sweet Home Alumni Foundation is hosting the Third Annual Decorated Live Tree Auction on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The auction will be held in the Sweet Home High School cafeteria, 1641 Long St. Several live and a few artificial, decorated trees, sponsored and designed by businesses and individuals, will be available for bid. A silent auction, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., will feature wreaths and centerpieces, baked goods, hand-crafted items and theme baskets.

The live portion of the auction will start at 6:30 p.m. in which trees will go to the highest bidder. Cost to attend is $15, which includes elegant holiday hors d’oeuvres and a festive punch. Everyone is assured to come away with something, whether it is a beautiful tree to display, a wreath, a basket, or a warm, happy stomach.

For those not able to come to the auction, the trees will be on display throughout the day on Saturday, from 9 to 4 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available during the day for a chance to win a decorated artificial tree.

Other events are also planned including bazaars held by the East Linn Museum, the Sweet Home Library and the Sweet Home Genealogical Society. The Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade, a downtown tree lighting ceremony, and the popular Singing Christmas Tree will also be held Dec. 2.

For more information regarding the various events, call the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce, 367-6186.
