Feb. 9, 1925 – April 29, 2011
Lloyd Ray Sharrah, 86, of Lebanon, died on the morning of April 29, 2011 at his home.
He was born Feb. 9, 1925 at home on the family farm outside Jamesport, Mo., to Elmer A. and Hariette (Houghton) Sharrah. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action during the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns.
Mr. Sharrah married Marion L. Utley in 1946 and they had eight children, including Kenneth R. Sharrah, Karen L. Sharrah, Ronald H. Sharrah, Marion L. Sharrah, Stephen L. Sharrah, Roger B. Sharrah, Clifton W. Sharrah, and Susan L. Sharrah.
They divorced and he married Esther Raisor, who had three children from a previous marriage, Cheri Bonzalet, Tony Ericsson and Angela Lynn Jones.
That marriage also ended in divorce, and Mr. Sharrah married Irene Grace Jackson. She had two children from a previous marriage, Patsy McIntyre and Harvey Jackson.
He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Sharrah was a millwright for most of his adult life. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Anderson, Calif., and the Sweet Home Elks. He had a multitude of friends too numerous to count. It seemed no matter where he traveled he would find someone he knew.
He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed the company of his wife Irene, friends and sons on many deer hunting and pheasant and quail hunting trips around northern and central California. Later in life he especially enjoyed trips to Utah to hunt mule deer and fish for trout with his sons.
Mr. Sharrah moved to Oregon in 2000 to be closer to his sons Ron and Leroy. He lived the last 11 years of his life with his son, Ron and his wife, Patricia, in Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; his parents; brother Alva; sister Dora Mae; wife Irene and step-daughter Patsy.
A memorial service was held May 7 at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge.
