Lloyd P. Sheldon, 80, of Monmouth died July 1, 2011.
He was born Oct. 25, 1930 in Scotts Bluff, Neb. and raised in Salem, graduating from North Salem High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Sheldon attended Oregon State University and finished at a private school in Salem.
He moved to Sweet Home in 1958 and retired from his first job some 40 years later. He was a hard worker for the Kiwanis, Elks, Chamber of Commerce which he was president of in 1964. He liked woodwork, doing projects with friends and he liked to be with people. He loved traveling with his Airstream group.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy J. Sheldon of Monmouth; and daughter GayLynn Pack of Monmouth.
His son Jeffery P. Sheldon preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, the Sweet Home Christian Church, 18th and Long St.
