Local dancers to perform in Corvallis Nutcracker productions

Sweet Home youngsters will dance in the Chamber Ballet of Corvallis presentation of “The Nutcracker.”

Ashley Rice is a soloist with the Waltz of the Flowers, Erika Snow dances in the Waltz of the Flowers, and Jessica Snow and Abbie Rice are costumed as ginger snaps.

Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. on December 7, 8, 14 and 15. A matinee is scheduled for December 8 at 2 p.m.

A 7 p.m. performance on December 13 is a fund raiser for a local organization.

Tickets are available at the Majestic Theater.

Special guests this year include Russell Capps, formerly of the Sacramento Ballet Company, as the Cavalier, Maricar Drillon-Capps as the Sugar Plum Fairy in a special guest performance December 8. Nicole Hodges of the Chamber Ballet of Corvallis will be featured as the Sugar Plum Fairy in all other performances.

Other special guests include Valerie Bergman and Darryl Thomas in the Arabian (Coffee) pas de deaux, the men of the Rainbow Dance Theater performing the Russian (peppermint) dance variation and Rick Wallace as Godfather Drosselmeyer.

This year’s production also features new costumes by Cinda Logerwall of Corvallis, and tutus by Maria Ferron of Portland. This original Nutcracker production is directed and choreographed by Shelly Svoboda, owner of the Regional School of Ballet. Lighting designer is Phil McBeth. Rehearsal mistresses are Mishele Mennett and Erin Palmer.
