A Sweet Home man was arrested on Jan. 14 for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a 35-year-old Sweet Home woman.
Sweet Home Police arrested Joseph Arthur Williams on three counts of kidnapping, second-degree assault, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, felony fourth-degree assault, menacing and strangulation. Police said they located Williams with the assistance of Albany Police Department at the train station in Albany.
The victim was known to Williams, Sweet Home Police Sgt. Jason Van Eck said, and they had some kind of relationship.
The events leading to the arrest happened over a 24-hour period in a couple of different locations in Sweet Home, Van Eck said, as Williams allegedly held the woman against her will and assaulted her.
She had multiple visible injuries, Van Eck said.
The victim contacted police afterward and reported the alleged crimes, he said. Police later received information that he was in Albany, trying to catch a train to California.
