6:30 to 9:30 a.m. – Optimists Pancake All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast at West Albany High School Cafeteria. Cost: Adults $7 – Military/Veterans in Uniform $4 – Children under 12 $4
8:30 to 9:15 a.m. – Memorial Service at Timber Linn Park. Guest speakers, laying of Gold Star and POW/MIA wreaths, “Oregon’s Own” 234th Band, Howitzer salute, Echo Taps.
9 to 11 a.m. – Albany Eagles Breakfast, 127 Broadalbin St. NW. Biscuits,Gravy & Sausage w/ Coffee: $4
11 a.m. – Grand Parade, Theme:“Veterans – Defending Our Freedom” Grand Marshall Jim Willis, retired director, Oregon Department of Veteran Affairs. Route through Historic Downtown Albany – Pacific Boulevard to Lyons Street to 2nd Avenue to Ferry Street to 5th Avenue
2 p.m. – Awards Ceremony in front of the Linn County Courthouse, 300 4th Ave. SW. Ceremony begins 20 minutes after conclusion of parade. Visit http://www.albanyveteransdayparade.org
4-5 p.m. – Free dinner for all Veterans at Sweet Home Elks Lodge, 440 Osage St. $5 for non-veteran members and guests. Veterans will also be treated to a free hair cut or trim and chair massage. All are welcome.
