Lois (Burnett) Gray, 90, of Fresno, Calif., formerly of Sweet Home, died Dec. 29, 2013.
She was born Feb. 11, 1923 in Fresno, to Lester Burnett and Lolita Barr.
She was raised in the Sweet Home area, where her family has lived since the arrival of her great-grandfather, John Burnett, who migrated from Illinois in the mid-1800s.
Mrs. Gray spent many summers volunteering at the South West Indian School in Arizona. She was awarded a five-year certificate in appreciation of outstanding volunteering service with the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program in Sweet Home, volunteered for many years with the Gleaners of Sweet Home, and volunteered many hours with the Meals-on-Wheels Program in Sweet Home.
She relocated to Fresno from Sweet Home in 2005 to be closer to her children.
Mrs. Gray is survived by her son, Ronald Gray and daughter-in-law Peggy of Clovis, Calif.; daughter Eileen Sutterfield and son-in-law Ken of Fresno.; brother Dale Burnett of Sweet Home; sister Sharon Care of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 40 years, Robert Gray; her youngest son, Deputy Keith Gray; and her sister, Meredith Yarborough.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Chapel at Northwest Church, 5415 N. West Ave., Fresno, CA 93711.
Private burial will be at Powell-Berlin Cemetery.
